Me:
Noelle Scott is a fine artist in Portland, Oregon. Her education has been rich in arts, beginning at Cal. State, Long Beach, where she was a fine arts major. She is currently completing her degree in Social Sciences from Washington State University. Her goal is to achieve a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy. All paintings are signed with the signature E M Scott in addition to the month and year finished.
Style:
The work has an ethereal feel with bright translucent portraits in dark settings. Inspiration comes from the range of roles women play in our social settings. The paintings often capture emotions from a female perspective. Women are mothers, environmentalists, punks, tattooed, and even burlesque stars. Subject matter and themes come from daily interactions with the lives of these women. Noelle does paint other portraits and some occasional mixed objects into her paintings.
Medium:
First love is acrylics, although she is also fond of mixing ink, charcoal, and watercolor. Noelle’s creative process involves scouring unusual images until she finds a theme for a series. The canvas is usually a drape of dark color before she repaints the shape of the portrait in white. She then uses a very soft watery technique that brings subtle colors into the skin. The paintings typically range from 13″ x 16″ to much larger pieces.
